Want to introduce a young person to hunting? The perfect place to start is with a STEP OUTSIDE youth dove hunt, sponsored by the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In cooperation with landowners, local volunteers, businesses and organizations, these dove hunts are scheduled throughout the state.

Young hunters must be less than 16 years old and accompanied by an adult at least 25 years old or their parent, with a valid state hunting license and a Harvest Information Program (H.I.P.) stamp. All are encouraged to wear eye protection and ear plugs.

Registration for youth dove hunts in the north zone and south zone are tentatively scheduled to begin August 2, and September 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM, respectively.  All registration will be done online from a link on this page.

The online registration process will require each adult to provide information regarding themself and the youth hunters.  Directions to each field, start time, and other pertinent information will be emailed to the registrants approximately 3 days prior to each hunt.   Before each hunt there will be a short welcome session with reminders of hunting safety precautions. Dove hunting will begin immediately afterwards.

South Zone counties include BALDWIN, BARBOUR, COFFEE, COVINGTON, DALE, ESCAMBIA, GENEVA, HENRY, HOUSTON and MOBILE. North Zone includes all other counties.
