Alabama fishing license requirements apply to anglers catching catfish. Alabama waters are productive, so no regulation limits the number of catfish that can be kept.  However, only one blue catfish or flathead catfish longer than 34 inches may be kept each day from most waters of Alabama.  No live blue catfish or flathead catfish longer than 34 inches may be transported out of Alabama without approval in writing from the Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources.
